Do Now
Objective
Homework
The above do now is known as a Foundational Entery point, it examines the philosophy or big idea that forms the foundation of the objective. It is open ended so all students will have different answers, validating different student experiences
For more read here https://eleducation.org/resources/helping-all-learners-entry-points
During lessons, be sure to leave a break of a few minutes for students to process every 10-or so minutes. This is the 10-2 method https://www.uwinnipeg.ca/experiential-learning/docs/Ten-Two.pdf
The biggest thing we have noticed in class visits is the teacher doing a 20-35 minute 'talk and chalk' with question and answer call outs. This leads to most students not being engaged, the same students answering, and a general lack of expectations for what students should be doing.
Remember the teacher is
in charge of the room when they are teaching. If it is messy when you walk in,
take time to have students clean up.
Take time to be
sure student manage their material
Be sure
students manage their material at the end of class and clean up.
At all points during
the lesson, all students should have something to do. For Example Instead of
calling on students to share the answer, so only one is speaking, Have them do a
turn and talk so all are involved
Semester 1 Report
We will be having a school-wide Pedagogical meeting in the upcoming week. We will look at the results for semester 1. Below are the results by grade of Semester 1. Thank you Homeroom teachers for helping to put this together
