Week Sept 20-25
Week Sept 20-25
Welcome Back!
First, I would like to thank everyone for all the work in
the first week of school!
There is a lot of information for this week. Please read the
below information carefully. To go over this we will have a staff meeting with Homeroom
teachers at 4:00 on the 2nd floor classroom
1. New schedule and cafeteria times
2.
Cover for absent teachers
3.
Expectations
4.
Fixes from last week’s schedule
1. New schedule
Use the schedule Mr.
Hans sent that is named Sept 19. It has been shared with everyone.
Please see the schedule and timings for breakfast and lunch
below. The schedule now has 10 periods.
Breakfast takes place period 1 and 2. Lunch 6 and 7. Students will go in two
ques. See the Bell times that have been emailed.
·
Home room teachers must escort the students down at the correct time. Homeroom
teachers must be in the cafeteria the whole time their group is scheduled.
·
Students may not take food out of the cafeteria
· Teachers, please do not cut in line
2. Cover for absent teachers
We are developing a system for cover and looking for
additional staff to help with this. We are also developing a protocol for
absent teachers delivering online lessons.
In the meantime, teachers will be assigned to cover lessons.
Please pay attention to the morning updates. If you are assigned to a class,
please be there on time.
If you are sick:
·
Email me and CC Farida and Send me a whats app
message
3. Expectations of teachers and classrooms
I want to make clear some expectations for teachers and
classrooms
·
Teachers are expected to supervise student
behavior at all times and in all places in school, even if a teacher is on a
break. “If you see something, say something”
·
Keep classroom doors open at all times.
·
Do not let students leave class once class
starts. It is only 40 minutes. Restrooms should be used during the 5 minutes
between classes. (For the smallest children the teacher can use their
discretion)
·
Do not let students play with the Electronic
White Board unsupervised
·
As the code of conduct says, students cannot eat
in class. Because of covid restrictions, they cannot bring their own food into
school
·
I will be monitoring halls during the 5 minute
transition for each class this week and clearing the hall at the end of the break.
I am putting together a hall supervision schedule that will be implemented next
week that will include all available teachers.
Instructional
Expectations.
The first and most important job of a teacher at the start
of class is to get kids to work. I expect that 60 seconds after the start of
class, all students should be in their seats working.
·
Have a 3-5 minute “DO NOW” task ready
immediately at the start of class All teachers should do this each class.
·
Have the objective for the lesson posted in the
same place each class
A good way to get used to these two things is to have the
student copy the objective and or agenda for class into their notebook as a do
now activity.
4. Fixes from last week’s

I would like to thank everyone for their flexibility last
week as we worked through some issues with the schedule. I want everyone who was affected by the issues to know that I have been keeping track of them and following through. Below is a list of issues, and their current
